I just took my 11 week old female to the Vet because of a discharge coming out of her vagina. The Vet obtained a urine sample and advised me that she had some Blood in her urine. He gave me antibiotics to administer over a two week period. Is this common with a UTI to have Blood in the urine?

You and me man, we're gunna write a book on mastiff puppy UTI's . . . My vet said it's not uncommon to have blood, but my girl just had gross booger-like stuff.

Make sure you have a sample re-checked BEFORE she goes off the meds, I made that mistake the first time and she had to start antibiotics all over again. Vet said it's typical for them to be on the medication for 3-4 weeks.

Thanks my girl has the same stuff. Someone here at work mentioned it could be cancer and my mind just went in all different directions.

yea yea, everyone enjoyed freaking me out too. . . especially since it started almost as soon as I got her. I've been told it's quite normal for little girls to get infections.

I'm feeding yogurt too to help combat the antibiotics making her sick, you could try that too.

Yes it can be normal to find traces of blood in the urine if they have an infection...You worry when the urine looks bloody (brown to red colour).

Anna has is straight too...Recheck the urine before you are done the meds.
