 | Have his hips been x-rayed? If he has bad hips, he may be tucking his hips under to alleviate some pain. The curved spine/deformity could be a result of the poor posture. Here is an article you may want to review on protein and puppies. Click This Link I am always a little skeptical that an imbalanced diet(low protein in this case) is the answer to a health issue. Remember that vets are a wonderful resource, but they do no receive extensive training in nutrition. The few class hours they receive in nutrition must be used to teach about nutrition in all animals not just canines.  | I agree with Shannon. Don't change his diet from what is whas before. The chicken is good though. I would put him on 1 full scoop of AniFlex GL per day. I get it from Horse.com It's cheap- order alot. The extra Ester C in there will help with the pano and his hips. Have his hips looked at, and his hocks.  | I reread my post and I did not mean to sound so harsh but I was really shocked at the severity of the curve. The breeder has been giving support to Mel but I think that this pup needs to be replaced or a refund offered. Things happen that we have no control over as breeders but it is how you make things right that counts. I understand that the breeders have been concerned and have offered emotional support but nothing further. Perhaps Mel ..you should be asking them??? Do you have a contract? Definately neuter him!!!  | Geez linda, 2 post and all your concern has been about was financial concerns. Yes for your own personal interest we do have a contract, and I plan on upholding it with Mel. Thats between us. If you dont have any helpful info for Nigel could you keep the forum clear so people that truly can help Nigel will. I don't want this forum to be about breeders, that's already in the open.  | Im so sorry. I went through a period of mysterious problems w/ my pup as well and I know how devastating and draining it can be. My puppy seems to be doing better but we actually never got a clear diagnosis from all the xrays, spinal tap and MRI's he had done. So I just walk on egg shells daily expecting problems to pop up again. Anways I was just posting to let you know that I understand how you feel and I know how difficult and life altering it is to have a sick puppy so I'm sorry and I hope there is some kind of positive resolution to this. And I also understand how you could never give him up at this point. He is now yours and he depends on you to take care of him. Stay hopeful Carly | |||

Wish you the best with Nigel, Shannon that is exactly what i had thought that the curvature was due to pano/pain . he has had exrays , on his hips , and they appeared fine , he is also onley 8 months old. i will take him to another vet . i honestly havr racked my brain as to any enviromental factors , that could have caused this , and honestly i think i have done everything right , as for the lower protien i have read and heard from a few people that this would be effective in helping with the pano . however it is difficult because there is SO MUCH different info , on what to do or not do . I really i tryed everything. some say rest him others say dont limit his play time . Some say leave him and see what happens in time which really is what i was trying to do however things seem to be getting worse for him not better . And maybe there arent any ansewrs . you get to a point where you will try anything . his pain is managed with Metecam , which i try to use sparingly and his pain used to come and go , but apears to be hanging in steady now as with the limping .
