| Seems like you got a bad pup and now will spend a small fortune trying to fix it because you think you "love" it. These kinds of emotions often leads to an inevitable conclusion when you burry or burn the dog. The symptoms that you describe will probably begin appearing more in the Neo as they get more inbred, wrinkled and unhealthy. New2neos - do yourself a favor and find another breed and wait to see what happens to this once great breed. It pains me to see what a bag of skin and bones the Neo has become and how it has cause owners so much money and heartache trying to fix a dog that was doomed from the day it was artifically inseminated. Wake up people - fix the Neo before it painful apparition of its former glorious self. When I read stores about owners and dogs suffering because greedy breeders are not interested in a healty and FUNCTIONAL animal .. it really pisses me off. I wonder how many owners suffer in silence and mortgage their home to fix a doomed dog? Wobblers syndrome.. are you joking?.. come on.. dogs don't wobble. (drunks do) It is just another bullshit syndrome drummed up to justify shitty dogs and shady breeding. Don't fall for it. I hope you get your dog corrected and if not.. I am sorry. | ||||

 | I do "love" my dogs and got her strickly for a pet not for show or breeding purposes. I do not struggle with my finances and knew the cost associated with buying my neo. I'm only human and i will do what i can to fix the problems. If you don't "love" your dog then why own one. It's just very shallow of you to state the obvious and try and kick somebody when they are down. I choose to own a dog they did not choose me so it is my responsibility to do what i can to take care of her. The way i see it there is no need to be a jerk about it. We just posted to see if anybody has had any of these symptoms not to start a debate. John & Brooke | |||

 | I dont think many who breed neapolitans go out to intentionally breed bad dogs and the majority of breeders are now testing their dogs. Whether they like the results of those tests or not and still breed is another story. Some do desex and keep that dog as a pet. Many also replace or give the money back on pups proven to be genetically faulted. If it was my pup I would take it to someone who is familiar with large breed dogs or a specialist who knows the breed and work from there. Poseidon not every breeder here wants OTT wrinkle on their dogs and are breeding for more health and function and putting everyone in the same hat really doesnt help those who are trying to improve the breed. If everyone had the attitude of PTS as soon as there is a problem then how on earth are we to rectify faults without facing them head on. I do agree if one of my dogs was suffering I would PTS out of fairness to the dog and would not consider my feelings or what other people think. Not because I want to hide what someone else has bred and sold me but just to be human and realistic. No breeder has a cystal ball and can know whether when putting two dogs together some fault rears it ugly head from generations back. All we can do is test and keep testing and work towards improving the breed from there. New breeders and well established breeders are not necessarily the cause of what is happening now but Im sure they or many are trying to work it out. I agree you really got way more than you asked for (with a certain reply) certainly didnt offer any advice ...i would like to at this time offer you my sympathy for what you are dealing with it is a heartache , and i think that hind sight is always 20/20 , nothing you can do about the past . in the present you have a sick puppy , and are just searching for ansews ...for the most part you came to the right place ....you will find the vast majority of the members to be knowledgable and supportive . I love My pets like crazy ...INSANLEY people think i am a nut ..(ask me if i care , i dont).thats why i have them as well. good luck and keep us posted as thing progress. | posiden go start your own thread and bitch about the state of the breeds health, why go in this one and say the bullshit you did , you have someone who is trying to gather information and here you are spouting off at the mouth like an idiot, ok mr know it all what are we covering up by saying it could be wobblers, which is a true disorder and occurs quite frequently in the breed, think before you open your mouth. While we are on the topic of you being a big mouth, why would pam go and get a different breed, that really made no sense to me. I could of just let it go, but I went and looked at the 3 posts that the above person has posted to this site, none of it very informative however back on mar 3 he wrote the following -------------Talk about the health of the dogs and help owners deal with it. This is not an advertisement for Cincipini and who buys their dogs - I don't care. This is the kind of scare tactics that will prevent well meaning owners from saying anything. However, I will not shut up about it. Problems are where you find them. | back to the original posters questions............. Since a round of antibiotics seemed to clear the head tilt, which you dont know was just a coincidence occuring with the ataxia, maybe it is along the lines of a infection, which should of been picked up with the blood panel but stranger things have happend. Is there any involvement with her eyes ? jerking or twitching movements or anything else she is doing that is not normal. Wobblers in the danes or dobies occurs in older dogs or in yearish old dogs, but I think it can happen at anytime. There are a couple of disorders that can mimic wobblers though so a mri can help rule that out or diagnose whats wrong if anything, I would look more into some sort of infection somewhere in the brain or spinal cord, John may not be far off the mark with the foxtail either I could see getting syptoms like these from one of those things specially if it is in deep enough and causing infection, should of came up on the panel but who knows, explore even the most non likely.
