As many of you already know I own a large dairy farm and unfortunately we often have extra beef around. How much of a dogs diet can consist of beef(instead of chicken or turkey)? I think I am going to feed a raw diet when I take the plunge. I would love if someone could give me a sample meal or meals for a typical day. Also, how many meals for growing puppy and how many meals for an adult. Thanks

Typically a pup here eats 4 times a day until about 8 weeks. Three times a day until about 16 weeks, then on to 2 times with a mid-day "snack". After a while they loose interest in the snack and I sort of let them tell me when it's time. Adults eat once or twice a day- just depends on the meal.
Mine do eat pork and beef. It's actually very good for them and they certainly can live chicken free, or on limited chicken!
Chicken does seem to spark allergies in some mastino- I am currently testing out not feeding one of mine chicken to see if her skin issues are allergy related. _________________________ Nikki Agrippina Mastino
Yes, your dogs can live on just beef...mine would love it!! The liver, heart, tripe not to mention the actual meat!! Heaven!!! The only thing that you would have to be careful of is not to give them too many bones to eat. The weight bearing bones, ie shin etc, are too hard and you will end up with broken teeth. It is great to give them these types of bones to eat the marrow out of but I would take them away once the meat and stuff is gone. My two aren't that lucky to eat exclusively beef but a typical week can consist of chicken necks, backs, thighs, legs, quarters, beef liver, beef heart, chicken liver, heart, gizzards, green tripe (yup it stinks to awful but they love it) pork shoulder roast, pork and beef neck. Their menu depends on my grocery shopping deals of the week along with purchasing bulk from Oma's pride.
Good luck!!! Wish I was closer to enjoy some of your bounty!!!
They very well could live on just beef. The idea behind raw feeding is to keep it varied though- possibly duck, deer or fish if you are a sportsman? _________________________ Nikki Agrippina Mastino
Nikki is right i used it i would still use it but i cant at this point well i know my post didn't help at all but i use to feed Barbosa Greens yogert and allot of chicken! Some times red meat.
Nikki is the one to talk to if you are thinking of doing it. I have to say the condition of the pup we got from Nikki was amazing!!! I was shocked when we started using all natural dog food at the changes in our dogs coats, but wow raw fed is even better. Starrsdcct Neapolitans UGM Admin
I have fed rescue fosters Candidae and was very pleased with it. Nothing compares to raw though! The poo I pick up is next to nothing in size! With any kibble it is like comparing it to horse patties! _________________________ Nikki Agrippina Mastino
