It's just fishy to me because when I asked what happens if her screen comes back abnormal next time the Dr's response was "we'll switch her over to another medication" . . . when I asked why we couldn't switch to a different med now, since she's already been on antibiotics for 2 weeks the vet tried to dissuade me by saying Baytril is more expensive. When I said that wasn't my top priority, she decided that Poe didn't fit into any of the weight limits for Baytril.
I'm calling the vet school here in a bit to see what they can do for me because I think that 3 weeks of medication (plus however many weeks her accidents in the house were actually due to infection) is PLENTY. I feel terrible for her, she's clearly uncomfortable.
UGH! I miss my old vet. I miss having access to people who are there to help, instead of so clearly trying to push me into spending more money. Ok, enough ranting Thanks for all your help guys! She gets ester C, vitamin E, and a glucosamine mix which has extra B12 ,calcium, D, Manganese, and K . . . why do you ask? "Mais tu ne dois pas l’oublier. Tu deviens responsable pour toujours de ce que tu as apprivoisé." - Le Petit Prince
yea, I actually was giving her my Cranberry pills the first time around, figuring that it wouldn't hurt and might help. . . she and I are more alike than I would have liked, we both suffer frequent UTIs! Needless to say I feel her pain "Mais tu ne dois pas l’oublier. Tu deviens responsable pour toujours de ce que tu as apprivoisé." - Le Petit Prince
We're just about to have dinner...But I will post a list of drugs suggested to be used on urinary infections...I also have a great herbal remedy that may work well... Kate and the zoo
I am afraid I am not going to be much help...The herbal remedy I was thinking of is for incontinence, not necessarily urinary tract infections...And the program I like to consult doesn't seem to be working (so no drug list)... Kate and the zoo
OK, I found this AMAZING site for answers. The link I'm providing is to the first question that popped up about UTI's and it was about a 13 week old mastiff!! Go to the top of the page and enter whatever you need answered, so far I have agreed and appreciated all the expert responses.
