Hi all!
Sorry I have been off the forum, had a personal loss, and have been really sad.
But, now my question, in regard to cherry eye, I was talking to Nikki yesterday, and she thought she remembered a new technique posted last year on the old usnmc board, she thought from South Africa (I think that is what she said).
Can anyone remember that post, and who it was??? I would like to do some research about this.

I have had 2 dogs that have had the gland removed, and both have had dry eye. I had a dog that died at age 9, 2 years ago, and he had horrible dry eye, and was on meds for years.

I know the tuck isn't well thought of, and I have had issues with it, also, but if we could develop another technique that can somehow deal with the cherry eye, but retain tear function, it would be better for our beloved breed.

Okay...The newest surgery that one of the top eye specialists does here in Toronto is called, a modified pocket technique. The gland is tacked to the periosteum (to the bone in the lower part of the eye). The specialist grabs a bit of the gland and makes a thin incision in the edge of the bone and tacks the gland there...Apparently he has not had a single client back, and I am told he has done neos.
