Hi guys ,

i am pretty much at my wits end as to what to do for Nigel , shortl after i got him (3 months of age )i began to notice a curvature in his top line . i had him to vet who told me cut him off of puupy food , to adult and cut his feed back , he was also suffering from severe pano, he was put on medicam , for a week . he was also on ester c as well as glucolismine . he seemed to come around but off and on with the limping and the walking sometime funny not extending his back legs behind him but rather keeping them right under his back end off and on . things seem to get better then worse , back to vet again , and he said had pano , and that the curvature in his spine was due to growing to fast and should level out , it has not , the pain he suffers comes and goes and is managed by metecam , and also massage , i have cut his protien intake down to 14 percent ,(under advisment) and his spine is getting worse and worse. i am making an appoint with another vet , and have sought the advice of his breeder and also have spoken with afew people who i belive have great wisdome within the breed , and no has ever seen anything like it . he has had 2 sets of exrays , and the vet said that his curvtarure is a deformity?.after 3rd visit i have never over fed Nigel , and i am very contientius(SP)about what i feed , he was fed , solid gold wolf cub , then wolf king , he get raw chicken , and yourgurt ect , aswell as marrow bones , beef tripe . its really sad to see .
Nigel was my first Neo and i am just in love with him , my intent was to show and breed him , that i know will never happen , now onto what the furture may hold him him , and advice or insight would be greatly appreciated .

WOW for once I am speechless! This is obvious deformity and I would think it is more likely to get worse with age. Is the breeder replacing him or offering some compensation? You will have future vet bills as well as what you have already into this dog. I have talked to you about him but did not realize just how severe the roach was.

Sorry to hear Mel...hopefully the breeder will work with you. Sounds as though you have given him the best care before this and the best possible treatment afterwards. As a matter of fact, I'm sure you have!!! Hopefully, someone here will have some better insight than I.

Oh Mel! So sorry to see Nigel like that. My heart goes out to you as you try to find some answers for him. My first bulldog, Meadow, was just plagued with everything a bulldog could get. I loved her SO much, it was very hard seeing her in pain. Best luck to you with Nigel and the new vet.

Mel.

Sorry to hear things aren't that great That is definitely a curved spine...and pano too...Poor guy.

As a trained and practicing massage therapist I would love to get my hands on the poor guy...Really I could not give any great advice without actually feeling him.

If he were mine I would be uncomfortable cutting him back on the protein intake...You do need protein to grow properly...I would think of changing the protein source, not the amount...

Are his massages being done by a professional? If so great...If not perhaps getting a professional to check him out would help as well...

It never hurts to get other opinions...Wether from another vet or neo guru....

Well i had been told to cut the protien for the pano and yes i agree the source which was switch from bison to chicken . but hey i am open to any advice , the massage is from me... well i think a round trip flight from TOis like 1200.00 bones these days ! Then u'd be stuck with me and all my unruly children and dogs ! and kitties , and vermen yikers! But i will do some networking and see what available for Canine Massage , in the area. Thanks Kate.
