This damage was caused by a vet that claimed he could not remove the cherry eye because it would be "unethical"
This is the damage ETHICS did to this poor puppy, that has now endured 7 SEVEN surguries and now is blind.

I am fortunate that the vets I use listen to me and do as I ask.

I forgot to add this pup lives in Nova Scotia. The owner asked that the gland be removed but the vet refused and continued to try and repair his tacking mess!

It has to be removed. Find a vet that removes it if your vet doesn't do it or doesn't want to then find another vet that will. REMOVE THE CHERRY EYE!!! your Pup will thank you!!

Oh thanks Linda for the trend!!!

Cut it out or leave it alone

NEVER TACK

As long as you wipe the eye area a few times a day the eye will be fine with it left up i have found

It just looks awful but far better that than a sore and messed up tack job IMHO

Great post linda thanks for the pics also

I am thankful that i have a vet that will remove although i have also been taught the Napolitano Method of removal HEHEHE

My Vet says that removing it causes "dry eye", lol, when I thought Beau might've had one. Had to take him to get his eyelid stitched up as my 2.5 yr old female lab put him in his place a couple weeks ago. Turns out he doesn't have a cherry, but the subject came up anyway.

She's good for routine things. The whole office (techs & all) loves Beau and Lili, but they won't be tacking any of my Neos.

If there is one thing i have learned ...lol its DO NOT TACK ,(Linda is great at drilling the important stuff into my head ) i have been giving Ellie antiobiotic drops and natural tears since the first day the first one popped as well , and true get her tears as well as nigel , they actually LIKE eye drops . but MY GOODNES WHATS THE BIG DEAL WITH THE ANTI CHERRY REMOVAL? what is the issue dry eye? who cares / simply use natural tears! MAN ALIVE ! that realy jerked my chain , it was like a friggen INTERVENTION in the vets office over the Cherry eye removal.
