My dogs eat shit.
Chicken, goat, cat, not dog shit thank the gods!
My vet says they can get some chicken shit eating disease, forget what she called it.
Is this a problem?
All the animals run free here and live in harmony.
The chickens go through the grass and really work to keep bugs populations away so I don't want to lock them up.
Its disgusting, especially because I get my face close to theres all the time but is it Harmful?

I have a 10 year old Neapolitan Mastiff who has spent her life searching out and eating poop. I have tried everything to discourage her. Sometimes I wonder why I buy her high-end kibble. I have also taken your questions and posted on another message board to get some opinions from a few Holistic Veterinarians. I would be interested in their answers, will keep you posted.

Its funny that kibble fed dogs like to eat poop. One solution Vitamin B complex= problem solved. Dog foods do not have anything to do with it but I am sure there is a co relation with the supplements in them. I have researched a bit why dogs eat shit and one is either a thyroid problem and/or a difficeiency in vitamin B or thiamine or it has a digestive problem so it needs a digestive enzyme. This is why probiotics are so important. I would do a CBC on your dogs if this is a real problem. I would also make sure your vet is aware beofre you try to conquer it on your own.

Thank You everyone for all the help!!
I will read the links.

I will have milking Goats in May. I will start feeding that. It is ful of probiotics.
I was worried about them getting the runs from the milk, also I heard not to give calcium supliments to yung dogs so I wasn't sure if the milk would be like a supliment they shouldn't have.

I'm guessing the dogs on raw diet aren't doing this.
I am making the switch. Thats it!!
I have them on Eagle Pack Giant now and they eat lots of other stuff too. I guess I do give them a bit to much junk and treats.

My vet is a very know it all and loves the drugs.
I only use her for shots now. I had her do one cherry and she doesn't follow instructions.

Thanks All

Its funny ya mention that.
I fought tooth and nail with the schools not to vaccinate my kid.
I thought I had to do it to show them.
I'm green to this showing stuff.

LMAO yes do that... And also get some injectable b complex I would do a dose of 4cc the first time. Wait 2 days and do the same again. Do the pepper thing to keep him or her from eating poop again.
