I have been searcing online and through forums but cannot find anywhere that it tells me how much Ester-C I am supposed to give my dog. Do I do it once a day? Twice? Both my dogs weighed around 130lbs the last time I weighed them but they have lost some wieght at the request of my vet so it could be closer to 115-120lbs now.

Thanks in advance!

1000mg a day is normal for maintenance
i buy them from the health food store in 500mg capsules and give two a day in the mornings
You of course can give more if they are having issues later on but i have found 1000mg is enough for a daily basis to pups and adults.

Thank you so much! I have been looking all over the place for that information. My poor little boy is having such a hard time moving around because of how stiff he is - and hes not even 2 years yet! My vet just keeps trying to get me to keep him on deramax all the time but I dont like that idea...I would rather he be on something natural.

Thanks so much, hopefully he will improve drastically.

if he is that age and stiff try giving him more..... start at 1500mg and increase by 500mg a day until his stools are loose,..... then reduce back to when the stools were solid....

Eg. If he gets to 2500mg with solid stools and at 3000mg they become loose then revert back to 2500mg daily

Say 2500mg is where we stop - do I need to keep him there for a certain amount of time and then go down from there and settle at a normal amount like the 1000mg Phil suggested, or do I keep him there permanently?

Is there any scientific proof that Vitamin C helps dogs?

Yes Ester C has been shown to be of benefit by many breeds and almost all breeders of mastino have found great results from it

Hey all,

Yeah, ester c is the bomb!!!

Check out Nikki's page here: Click This Link .......thanks, Nik,
Nik has really helped me with my dogs....

I see a big difference in my dogs gait, if they are down on their pasterns, etc......

It is also great for healing....

But I am looking for scientific proof. I dont doubt it is benificial in some way. But I have also heard it can cause joint problems too, when overdoing it.
