Good point Robert. We backed wayyy off of Beau's supplements, and his appetite and drive went up. Not to say that C isn't important, but where is the documented proof. Our Vet looked at me like I was Neo when I told her about the supps I was giving Beau. Maybe his appetite/drive/energy increase was just coincidence with his maturation...who knows. There is a theory that if they receive too much, the body will just get rid off it. People who are in the best of shape will say that you can over-supplement the body. Neos grow at such a fast rate, so their metabolism is very much like a well conditioned athlete. Maybe, they can be over-supplemented as well?

That's good stuff on treating the problem. As the link says, and we know it sometimes comes down to treating genetics. Also, environmental influences with these guys when they are younger.

Not too much on it as a preventive measure. It can't hurt. Just wandering if anyone has thought about the fact that these guys can be over-supplemented.

I believe so AJ i only give Ester C and nothing else
Oils and minerals and vitamins they get from raw and natural foods inc veg potatoes pasta meats fish cheese natual yoghurt etc etc

I know of 1 guy who has had 1 Bm and 1 NM and they both died at 2 years old and this guy literally fed his dogs supplements daily. He had a box filled with all different types of stuff. I think it can only weaken the dog in the long run, it is 1 thing to supplement for a deficiency but its another to overdo when its not required.

Hell i dont even like to give mine antibiotics unless it is really necessary, And even then if its a week long course i may give for 3 days or so.
I believe the Immune system should be well able to cope with things without requiring extra meds or supplements.
I mean if you get a cut on your finger you dont take them or if you get many things happen to you you dont get them. Or need them.
I think also many veterinarians just prescribe stuff to get the money from your pocket into theirs.
Even having seen a veterinarian in Naples perform a C Section he gave 1/4 of the anaesthetic that i have seen given here.

I think we can oversupplement, but with water soluble vitamins, the dog just pees it out, doing further research, here is an article about a study:

Even if it is water soluble your liver and other organs has to work to clean the body I personally think more than 1000mg of vitimin C a day is over board. 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg at night every other day is what I give.
